A Step-by-Step Guide to Securing a Sublet

Those who've experienced it before have called it the best feeling in the world. Just imagine - you're minding your own business on a normal Tuesday morning, grabbing some breakfast before your classes start for the day. You hear the familiar jingle and see the red notification icon from Outlook. And, after so many times of reading "unfortunately, at this time we will not be moving you to the next stage of the hiring process," you finally see the word "Congratulations!"

You pump your fists in the air with excitement. The job is yours! You call your mom. You start shopping for business casual attire online. You begin crafting your LinkedIn post. You are unstoppable!

The Reality Check

But then, reality sets in. One overarching question looms over you like a dark cloud: Where will you live?

Sure, it's great that you've got your dream job in a big city, but how will you live there all summer? Do you need a realtor? How should you find a sublet?

The Solution: Squibber

As soon as these questions start racing through your mind, there's only one place to go - Squibber. Squibber is a secure, organized ecosystem that matches hosts and subtenants. All of its hosts and renters are verified students. As a subletter, you will be able to browse and choose rooms to sublet for any duration of time - the length of your summer internship, a semester, or even a full year, with no realtor involved.

Getting Started

To get started, go to Squibber's website and select "For Subletters." Then, create an account and verify your email. Make sure that you use your university-issued ".edu" address. Next, create a profile that features a photo and a brief bio. After that, you're ready to browse!

Searching for Your Perfect Space

On the site, you can search for available sublets by location and term. Moreover, you can apply filters such as prices and a search radius. Additionally, Google Maps, offering both terrain and satellite views, is built into the Squibber site, allowing you to view properties along with their corresponding monthly rent costs.

Exploring Listings

Once you click on a property, you'll be able to view between three and 12 photos of the bedroom, living areas, and amenities. Further, a property overview, containing the number of bedrooms and bathrooms and details about the room, can be found beneath the photos.

A description of the dates of the sublet, its location (relative to a school or other local landmarks), the other tenants, house rules, and the available amenities is also provided. Many of the listings will also have roommate preferences listed, so make sure to look out for descriptions that match your profile.

Connecting with Hosts

The host's profile, including their grade and school, will be shown on the listing. To negotiate the base rent and to ask any questions, you can message the host through Squibber. A rundown of the pricing, including the base rent and Squibber's service fee, is also available.

Finalizing Your Sublet

After you've found the place for you, Squibber finalizes the match and provides both sides with the proper documentation, which has been approved by legal professionals. Once everything has been signed, you will be able to make payments directly through the Squibber system. And, best of all, on-demand support will be available throughout your Squibber journey!

Don't Fear the Inbox

So, when that email comes and both you and your inbox explode with excitement, do not fear. Squibber has your back! It's the simple, safe, and secure way to find a sublet for all students, and it's just a few clicks away.
